PSL Franchises Finalizes Players For Second Season of Pakistan Super League

The draft of Pakistan super league (PSL) 2017 was held in Dubai sports city in a pleasant ceremony on 19th of October 2016, where five PSL Franchises selected  best players to ensure their success in the 2nd season of PSL, that is  announced to be held in February-march, next year.

The final of this mega event of Pakistan Cricket will be held in Lahore as confirmed by the Chairman Najam Sethi. PCB is hoping bring back international cricket back to Pakistan with the help of Pakistan Super League.

In the upcoming season, Brendon McCullum was the top pick of the draft and is confident to take Lahore Qalandars in the direction of imminent victory. Chris Gayle is acquired by Karachi Kings from Lahore Qalandars, Kevin Pieterson on the other hand will be retained by Quetta Gladiators and Eoin Morgan is selected by Peshawar Zalmi.

Here are list of Players who was transferred, selected or retained by PSL Team in the drafting event. Some new players are selected by teams. In the upcoming session of PSL, only two Pakistani player will captain their teams.

Foreign Players Gave Green Signal to Play in Pakistan:

In an interesting announcement, the chairman of  Pakistan Cricket board Najam Sethi said that many foreign players are willing to play in Pakistan without any hesitation. He also announced that final of the mega event will be held in Lahore! Foreign Players will be Fly in to Lahore Stadium and will leave the country soon after the match.

Background of the Draft:

The drafting process involved a total of 414 foreign and national players combined. These players were  further divided into 5 categories.

The platinum category comprised of 28 players, Diamond Category comprised of 33 players. In Gold Category,  of 74 players were included while in Silver category 255 players were listed. In the final category “emerging players” 24 players were added

The Platinum category included nine Pakistani and 19 foreign players.

The most vibrant players were included in Platinum  category. This includes Shakib Al Hasan, Alex Hales, Shane Watson, Jason Roy, Eoin Morgan, Stuard Broad, Kevin Pieterson, Kumar Sangakkara, Brendon McCullum, Lasith Malinga, Andrew Russel, Mahela Jayawardene, Chris Gaye, Darren Sammy, Dwayne Smith, Sunil Narine, Marlon Samuels, Kieron Pollard, Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Wahab Riaz, Umar Akmal, Sarfraz Ahmed, Younis Khan and Misbah-Ul-Haq.

Around ten players of Zimbabwe and players of those countries who are not test playing nations are also made part of the list of 414 players.

The talented players belonging to the non-test playing nations include One player each from USA, Oman, UAE, Canada, nine from Afghanistan, Six from Ireland and two cricketers from Holland.

No doubt, expectation from this event is enormous as season 1 of PSL went beyond imaginations. The same is expected from season 2 of PSL T20 and we are pretty sure it will be a huge success!
